About Nancy

I've been where you are.

Helping families navigate downsizing, clearing out a parent's home, and making decisions about a lifetime of belongings.

I'm so glad you're here!

I've Been on Both Sides of This Journey.

When my parents passed away, my siblings and I were faced with the enormous task of clearing out their home.

I wasn't prepared for how difficult it would be.

Every room held memories. Every drawer seemed to contain something worth looking at. There were things that reminded me of Mom and Dad, things I thought I should keep, and things I simply didn't know what to do with.

I kept more than I should have. Partly because I wasn't ready to let go, and partly because I felt guilty about getting rid of things that had belonged to my parents.

Before long, I had brought home more than my own home could comfortably hold.

It took me time to realize that keeping everything wasn't the same as keeping the memories.

Later, my husband and I went through a significant downsizing of our own. That experience gave me a different perspective. I began to understand how important it is to make decisions about our belongings while we can, rather than leaving those decisions entirely to our children.

I've experienced both sides of this process, and I know there are things I wish I'd understood sooner.

Why I Want to Help Other Families

I wish someone had handed me a practical guide when we started clearing out my parents' home.

I wish I'd known what to look for before things started leaving the house. I wish I'd had a better plan for making decisions, handling family belongings, and knowing what was important to keep.

That's a big part of why I do what I do today.

I want to help adult children avoid some of the mistakes I made and feel more prepared for the decisions ahead.

I also want to encourage those of us who are thinking about our own homes to start making decisions now. We can make things easier for our children by taking some of the responsibility off their shoulders.

This isn't about getting rid of everything or living with less just for the sake of having less.

It's about being thoughtful about what we keep, what we pass along, and what we leave behind.

A Clearer Way to Navigate a Lifetime of Belongings

I believe there is a place for the things we love and the memories they represent. But I also believe we don't have to keep everything to honor the people and experiences connected to those things.

Here you'll find:

▪ Practical checklists and resources to help you know what to look for and what not to overlook.

▪ Guidance for making decisions about a lifetime of belongings.

▪ Real-life advice for navigating downsizing and clearing out a parent's home.

▪ Ideas for preparing your own home so your children aren't left with more than they can manage.

▪ Encouragement to make thoughtful decisions without feeling pressured to do everything at once.

My goal is to give you useful information you can actually put to work.

I'm Glad You're Here.

Whether you're helping your parents, preparing your own home, or simply trying to figure out what to do with years of accumulated belongings, I'm glad you found your way here.

I've learned that these transitions involve much more than deciding what stays and what goes.

They involve family, memories, relationships, and sometimes decisions we never expected to have to make.

I hope the resources I share help you feel more prepared, avoid unnecessary regrets, and make decisions you can feel good about.

And if there's one thing I hope you take away, it's this:

You don't have to keep everything to hold on to what matters.

I'm glad we're on this journey together. 💛

Nancy
